I received a suggestion for a forum where solo travelers could look for traveling companions with similar interests. This is not a romantic or "singles" forum! Just a place for people to meet and possibly make plans. Or, to share great trips you've done as a single traveler.

I think it's a great idea, and I hope that it will lead to some new friendships and adventures.

where am I

This is a great idea and thanks for one who is almost always a 'solo' sailor but does not do 'singles' cruises as a general rule and does not do 'on line' dating as a definite rule.

THANKS!!!

I'd also be interested in any tour operators who are "single friendly" --- ie they don't charge you out the wazzoooo for a single supplement.

I'm leaving in 2 weeks to cruise the Rhine (13 days) from Basel Switz to Amsterdam. My brother sourced out the firm - Vantage Travel (www.vantagetravel.com) You CAN pay for a single cabin if you want, or at the time you book you tell them "find me a roomie" and they will put another single in with you, and you pay the "regular" double occupancy rate ... if they don't find one, the cabin is yours at the same cost ...no extra.

There's several things we like (so far) about this firm...the currency on board ship is USD's, they gave me a free carry-on bag (a really nice one) that arrived with my e-ticket in its own document portfolio. I just rec'd their 2009 catalog and their tours are wide ranging (Nile, Machu Pichu, Greek Islands, China, Imperial Russia, etc.) and certainly have my interest --- and they give the equivalent of frequent flier miles on their trips. When you go with them a percentage of your trip earns you a credit towards your next trip.

I'll be filing a trip report on flotilla when I get back ... but we (brother & sister) are REALLY looking forward to this trip! JB

We're always looking for copacetic traveling companions. Our latest downisland adventure is chronicled at http://www.grenadavisitorforum.com/showthread.php?t=724 . Shandygirl and MadMike are good singles to travel with!

Hi! I am a single traveler who wants to meet up with others in the same boat (sorry, couldn't resist). Like all of us on this board, I love the islands, the people, the beaches, the blue waters and adventure. Sadly, I don't have tons of money to spend. I know we were quite spoiled by the pricing of WJ.

I am female, mid 50s. This isn't a singles ad. :)

I certainly don't mind traveling alone once in a while but it is quite frustrating to look around for a vacation and run into either the much higher prices for singles or when I find a great place to go and realize that particular place wouldn't be much fun on my own. Some adventures need to be shared!

And I am oh so desperate to have a vacation from my world!!!

Hopefully there are others who feel as I do!

Shelley
