Visual Thesaurus Word of the Day™: famished

Bare Cupboard Word of the Day: famished

The verb famish, "cause to starve," seems to have taken early retirement in English, but it has left its participle around to put in an appearance where needed -- as a synonym for "ravenous." The only common relative of famished in English is famine; they're both descendants of Latin fames, "hunger."

good morning

I ran out of nutmeg syrup for my waffles this morn!

and yes I did have some for medicinal purposes 151 proof rum here which is about exhausted!

I'm famished for things Grenadian.

What is it you miss most from your tall ship cruise on Diamant?

or for that matter Jumpup! hammock cocktail eatmeal party

If I missed your choice "tell us about it?"

I think there is a song there!? party

A MOST unfair poll ... you forgot to include combinations, such as:

Sea breeze in my hair, sitting under the almond tree, helming Diamant.

etc. I can't quite do "all of the above", but ... 9 outa 10 ain't bad!

Saucy,

The goal was to get additional comments. See, I already got yours!

Hi I've been away for awhile and boy do I ever have a lot of reading to do to catch up on everything.

We were on a foo foo in the Med. Had a wonderful time but I must say that weather-wise I would recommend Diamant and The Grenadines for a winter vacation. Had force 9 winds and over 20 foot seas our last night from Malta to Barcelona. We were on the lowest level of passenger cabins and with the high waves we felt like were were in an aquarium!

I'm certain I left out:

1) rope swing

2) sea turtles

3) whales

4) Happy Island

5) Sandy Island

Pick one!

Aloha all!

Sorry I'm late today. I like sea breeze in my hair, if only I had hair!

The third largest city in Hawaii is Kailua. It is on the opposite (windward) side of Oahu from Honolulu. In fact, 4 of the 5 "largest" cities in Hawaii are on Oahu. Only Hilo is on a different island and has a whole 40,000 people. So large is a relative term.

Ahh! The arctic oscillation is finally reversing, which will lead to the breakdown of the warm pole/cold continent anomaly that has been here since the middle of hurricane season. Maybe we'll get some moisture in the Rockies for our late spring...

Warm would be nice as well. Currently -2degF, heading for -10 again...

Skod, as I said on Facebook to your temperatures in Colorado, warmth is relative thing. BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport reported 475 hours of sub freezing temps in January equation 475/24 = nearly 20 full days of sub freezing temps. Right now, here, we are having gusts of 32 mph and a wind chill of 11 º F.

Grenada, on the other hand, has a 0% chance of any temp below 78º F in the water swimproblem In fact its water is warmer than the local Y's fishing pool for seniors. I think there is a subliminal message in there! hammock
