Me & the family are looking forward to our 1st trip on the Diamont (and about 15 years since our 1st visit to the Grenadines for a trip on the Mandalay!).

Anyone else aboard this sailing here ?!

Hey Sandra

Great trip report from 08/10 ...

Been reading some of your guys interesting posts about getting things for the Mayreau school kids and was going to do the same (saw the lists - basic stuff, easy to get and pack!).

Neat thing to do and share but don't want to interrupt their usual day - what's the best way to go about it - just go by the school and drop things off or is there another location?

Thanks!

Just stop by the school as they love having visitors and are very appreciative of anything you take them. If you have a particular skill to share, they would love it. One of our guys is a retired math teacher, and he actually taught the older kids multiplication tables using the tic tac toe game. As I mentioned in a different post, one of the gals read a story to the kindergarten class. I just asked the teacher if she could read them a story, and she was delighted.

It is our way of giving back to the islands as we gain so much joy from just being there.

Thanks for that clarification Sandra - it's what it sounded from your guys posts/previous comments, I just wanted to be sure ;-)

Wonder if the schools are in session, if not maybe we could leave the small care package w/ the Capt ...

I'm not sure if the school will be open or not. You could also leave the supplies with Dennis or Gosia at Dennis' Hideaway - the first bar on the right as you walk up the hill. He helped me contact someone at the school last year for their wish list. He is known as the "mayor" of Mayreau.

Sorry you missed visiting the school. I'm sure they are very pleased with what you left for them. Next time...
