Has anyone read The Ship and the Storm by Jim Carrier about the fateful encounter of the windjammer Fantome with Hurricane Mitch in 1998? I realize the story is old, but I just became aware of it when a local TV station aired an old episode of Storm Stories two nights ago. Most of the reviews on Amazon are good.

Yes, I have read the book. In the the beginning it has a lot of statistics. If you have ever sailed WJBC you will recognize names & it will feel very familiar. Definitely read it.

I agree with Terry - it is a good read, especially if you ever sailed on WJBC.

Thanks for the comments. I never got around to sailing with Barefoot Cruises, but I'm about to take my 2nd trip with IWJ, so I hope to get a copy of the book and have it read by the time I board the Diamant at the end of August.
