Fyi, I contacted SCOTT'S TALLS SHIP sailing list and he added S/V VELA to his list of ships. He hasn't added a picture of the ship yet but will soon.

Cool! Unfortunately not many people use his sailing list.

Sandra,

You are correct. I know from posting my last two trips on Scotts and even Sea Shanty that I didn't get hardly any replies. It is a same for many reasons. One being newcomers to this type of vacation can learn from the mistakes that we made. You have to spend 6,9, 12 days with strangers. Why wouldn't you want to be friendly before the trip. It not like your going on a "fat ship cruise" with 2500 people. Don't understand. Oh well, I just post and see who bites. ha ha

I had asked him also re Vela, so I was glad to see the list up there.
When I signed up for my first IWJ cruise, I was told about Scott's List, but it
wasn't mentioned when I signed up the next four. I don't recall seeing it
in the IWJ sailing info that gets sent out to cruisers...it would be cool if all the tall ships he hilights would push it
I've made several good connections there, even tho not too many use it now.

very true. IWJ should inform. people when they confirm of both these connections. Hey, I got to meet you in Grenada and we had a drink and shared a few seastories.

the problem with the list may be that there is a general fear of posting on line that you are going away from home...But you don't have to post your last name and can be more general on where you live in posting the state versus the town.. We have had very good information flows back and forth with sailmates using it in the past when the people provided email links...
