Looks like Capt. Luuck is no longer captain of Diamant according to their blog. Who is the new captain?

I'm sad. Just read about Captain Luuck and family saililng to the BVI's where he'll have a day job. He was my favorite IWJ Captain. Glad I got to see him briefly in May.

Young, growing families need and deserve lots of attention. Top that with having a mobile home on the water and you've got a very big demand on the adults. Hopefully, when the young'uns are a bit older, Luuck and Darcy will be in the neighborhood and Luuck will be able to come "visit" IWJ as a relief captain.

Until we meet again, wishing Luuck and Darcy, Stormer and Rio a beautiful life full of adventures. Sail on friends, always in health.

The captains of all the ships are on a rotation schedule, so it would depend on when you were sailing. I believe I saw on Facebook that Captain Phil Rafter was on board. If so, he is FANTASTIC. Will and I sailed with him last April.

That's a name I haven't heard. Glad to know he's good, but then that isn't a surprise. We next sail on Diamant a year from December (unless we just can't stand it and book another sooner!). I doubt anything has been set re captain for Dec 2016!

It isn't like the old days where being a cruise skipper on a (relatively) small commercial vessel was a career calling. A lot of the young ones like Scott Meyers and Luuck Soeter have young families that need them at home and they want to travel as well. So they work a gig for a year or 2, save up and mosey on. I keep an eye on Scott and Brittany's webpage and see they are heading back to the warm Caribbean sometime this fall - with 3 little mermaids all under 3 years old.

Hopefully you will get a chance to meet Captain Phil; he's funny, very knowledgeable, outgoing and he leads a great hike ... oh, and he can fish too!

3 mermaids under 3?! Any multiples in there: twins + 1, or maybe they are triplets?

A little girl first and about the time she turned 1 1/2 the twin girls arrived. Check out the pix on their sailing blog: Windtraveler.
