Anyone else on this trip?
Better hurry, only 3 cabins left.
Has anyone stayed at JJ's Paradise in Margot Bay in St. lucia?
This will be our first time in St. Lucia and first sail with IWJ.

Not at JJs, which I understand is not on the beach, but we've stayed at Marigot Bay Beach club and really like it, especially if you are going to be there for more than a quick onite. Very good open-air restaurant, great open-air bar, beach right there, lots of beach toys to rent, nice beachside walking, sometimes live entertainers in the eve....and get an oceanview room. The little ferry over takes all of 2 minutes and is free for those to/from Marigot Bay Beach Club. We'll be back there in March, before and after Vela.

We stayed at the Marigot Beach Club for the night after we sailed. Capella side has a small convenience store where you can get drinks, snacks, etc. The Beach Club beach is small but convenient, and love Dolittles Restaurant and bar. Had a nice leisurely breakfast then took the ferry over to catch our taxi to the airport. The St. Lucia Airport is the pits. Crazy. Overcrowded, etc, etc, etc. Enjoy your sail!!

Where is best place to buy liquor in St. Lucia? We'll be there in March, staying in Rodney Bay pre-cruise.

Don't know about booze but staying in Rodney Bay don't miss a chance to go to Pigeon Island and climb to the top of Fort Rodney. If your are interested in history you shouldn't miss it. Pigeon Island is next to Sandals. It isn't an island ( used to be an island and now attached to the mainland ) and you can walk to it from Sandals. Been there twice and would go again. It is now a National Park.

We stayed at JJ's and would again. It was an overnight stay and perfect for us. It's NO FRILLS as far as being super luxury, but it was great for us. Big room, nice AC, CLEAN and super friendly hosts. If you are going for multiple days prior to or after your trip then it might not work for you. But if you need an overnight then we would recommend it. Honestly, we would stay there for multiple days but some require higher end enmities than us. You can walk to the water and take the water taxi over to the "resort" area and access other fun areas. It's only a couple dollars and if you spend money at the resort bar across the way they give you a ticket back no charge.

The taxi ride from the airport to Rodney Bay should go right past a store that looked like it sold everything. We stopped there and bought some wine on the way. I don't know if they sell liquor.
Ask your taxi driver to stop someplace to buy liquor - they will know the best places.

There is an IGA on the main road, between Rodney Bay and the Marina area. It had everything we needed and was clean, well stocked, and reasonably priced. There are also 2 grocery stores in the Mall in the center of town.

That information about Rodney Bay is all fine and good, but the ship is docked in MARIGOT BAY and that is about a $35 - $45 cab ride from Rodney Bay.
If one is staying at JJs in Marigot Bay, the additional cost of the cab to/from Rodney Bay would make for expensive beverages and snacks indeed.

I second the idea of asking the driver you have hired to meet you at the airport for his recommendations for a package store stop on the way to Marigot Bay.

found this today. how about the St Lucia Rum distillery in Marigot bay. It is on road to Anse la Raye in Roseau south of Marigot Bay. I went to a rum distillery during my time on diamant a couple of years ago. Paid 5 dollars and could tast all of their different types of rum . The rum there was 1/2 the cost in the local stores. If it is rum you want, this might be the place and fun too. think I will go there in Dec.

What is the average cost by taxi or bus from the airport to Marigot Bay?

Brian you can book the St. Lucia Airport shuttle through IWJ website or go to
http://www.saintluciaairportshuttle.com/

If I remember correctly in June it was about $70 for the two of us. The driver was right on time at Marigot Bay dingy dock area.
