That's really a toss up - can't beat the beach at Shoal Bay in Anguilla, but how can you pass up Bequia?
But I guess through the magic of internet we can have the morning on that white sandy beach and then swim off the boat in Admiralty Bay just before our wine and cheese party this afternoon. Yay!!!

Hmmmm, looks like Liz is not all that comfy with the gypsies in the palace (er, bar)!! LOL! We promise, yeah we do, that we won't make too big of a mess, and maybe leave one bottle of rum.

I so love walking in Bequia ... and sailing around Moonhole ... and snorkling or diving in the not-terribly-deep reef waters there.

Anguilla's Shoal Bay has never been impressive when I've visited. The beachy bars, the chairs/umbrellas for rent, all make it seem so commercial and touristy ... but hey, what can I say? Once you've been to Saltwhistle Bay, everything else is "just a beach". (And right now, I'd love to be ON a beach, any beach, any island -- my winter tan is fading.)

If Bequia still allows whaling, I'd rather spend my money in Anguilla.

Whaling in Bequia is coming to an end, which is great news for the whales and for SVG.

Last month I spent a week just north of the Dominican Republic in an area that is the largest winter breeding and calving waters for the N Atlantic humpbacks. Apparently a delegation had recently been to the DR to learn about their whale watching industry.

So I'd gladly head to Bequia and see the whales, who no longer have to worry about harpoons. At least not there anymore.

That is great news and I had not heard that. Thanks!
